On Nov 11, the Board of Directors approved a preliminary motion to delete the requirements for the annual Stallion Breeding Report in the Rules of Registration. This change will delete Article IV, section A, rule 6, and the entire Article VI. In accordance with the NFHR Bylaws, amendments to the Rules of Registration will be presented in the official NFHR publication or on the NFHR website prior to Board action, for comment by the membership. Comments must be submitted in writing to the NFHR office via mail or email before December 12, 2009.
Since DNA parentage testing for all foals being registered is required, the NFHR does not need the extra check to see that the correct horse was bred before registering the foal. It costs about $500 a year to send it out with the postage, envelopes, copies & labor. So, deleting the requirement for this report will reduce the NFHR expenses in addition to reducing the Registrar’s workload.
