1DR FJORDS
Striving to help you experience the wonder (1dr) and intrigue of the Fjord breed for the last 30 years, with over 80 Fjords produced and over 100 owned, leased or managed. We have also been the past decade's most prolific NFHR breeder. We raise foals with optimal growth and joint development for long-term soundness, healthy metabolic function, ideal social skills, and low-stress skill-learning via the management of our 20 broodmares with their foals living 24/7 on hilly, phytochemically-diverse pastures. We breed to produce fairly tall drafty Fjords with a naturally calm, level-headed temperament, strong work ethic, easy trainability, and sound, correct, versatile, functional structure and movement within the Breed Standard. All accepted Fjord colors are possible from our herd. Quality foals are available annually. 2 of our 4 stallions will have offspring available in 2022: SOS Rurik (red carrying grey) and Kjor Hunter (white carrying grey and red). Matching your aspirations for your equine partner with a foal possessing those traits naturally is our priority. Come to our Fjord Open House July 8, 2023, 10-4 to meet all of our Fjords and their foals in person! FOOTNOTE FARM
2022 Footnote Farm is the only breeding farm in North America featuring exclusively imported breeding stock. Our breeding horses are from Germany: the country that breeds more Fjords than any other in Europe and with a centuries' old evaluation process for movement and sport where Fjords are evaluated against other breeds for performance and conformation. We love promoting and educating newcomers to the breed and can often be found at shows, clinics, expos, and other events. We breed a limited number of foals each year and aim to support other breeders and have great relationships with many by sharing our great stock with other farms in the US and Canada. Footnote Fjords are Registered in Germany and Canada. Our fundamental goal is to breed Fjords that are soft in the bridle and off the leg but that are stoic and brave without a spook and that have a way of going that lends itself well to all sports. Our Fjords are made for sport but are not at all hot. Solid conformation and 3 solid gaits are imperative in our program. We select horses with very high quality, uphill, and light canter. Footnote Fjords that are true to type and are truly little horses with big hearts that can do anything! Stallions available AI/LC Njord Halsnaes; Frozen semen options: Vajeur, Dylan, Mogly.
